Bartolomeo Cristofori is the person who first invented Piano. The inventor of the piano, Bartolomeo Cristofori, is celebrated in today’s Google doodle. Cristofori was born in Italy in 1655 and his creation of a hammer mechanism that hit keyboard strings to create sound was the birth of the modern piano.

According to Encyclopaedia Britannica, the instrument Cristofori invented was referred to during his lifetime as a harpsichord that plays soft and loud, from which its name is derived. In Italian, the phrase is gravicembalo col piano e forte.

Bartolomeo Cristofori was Born on 4 May, 1655 in Padua, northern Italy. He is believed to have started work on what would become a piano in the 1690s and the first one is thought to have been made in 1709.

The Google Doodle celebrates this mechanism with its animation which shows the action within a piano and the user can turn the volume up or down to see how the mechanism enhanced or dampened the sound.
